FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is Chiropractic?
A: Chiropractic is a healing discipline based upon adjustment of the spinal column and a body's structure to correct abnormalities in the nervous system. Derived from the Greek word "chiropraktikos," meaning "effective treatment by hand," chiropractic is based on the belief that good health is a direct result of a normally functioning nervous system. Chiropractic treats these abnormalities with focused musculoskeletal adjustments rather than prescribing drugs, chemicals or surgery.

Q: Who can benefit from a Chiropractic treatment?
A: Anybody can benefit from chiropractic treatment! There is really no age limit to who can benefit from chiropractic treatment, including an infant in their first years of life through to someone in their seventies and eighties.

Q: Is Chiropractic treatment safe?
A: The easy answer is "Yes". Safe is a relative word. In our opinion, Chiropractic being a natural method may be more safe than using a prescription drug or surgery to try and treat a problem which can be corrected by a Chiropractor.

Q: I heard Chiropractic is painful, is that true?
A: The only pain a patient might feel lasts only a few seconds at the time of the adjustment and is uncommon. We typically hear that going to Chiropractor is painful from someone who has not been to a Chiropractor. Chiropractic treatments administered by a Chiropractic Doctor are done to correct a painful situation, not create a painful situation.

Q: What can I expect during my first visit?
A: Before you see the doctor on your first visit, you will need to complete a form to answer questions about the nature of your discomfort, your medical and family history and the nature of any other treatments you have tried. Once the Doctor has reviewed this background information, a physical examination is performed to assess your condition. This may include x-rays and other diagnostic procedures to determine the best course of action.

Q: How long does a typical treatment last?
A: The treatment process varies from patient to patient. A minor, first-time injury can sometimes be treated in just a few visits. A more serious problem may require months of treatment. At Grosvenor Chiropractic we will suggest a treatment designed for your specific problem and will only offer you treatment they feel is necessary.

Q: Do you accept credit cards?
A: We certainly do! We accept MasterCard and Visa.

Q: Can chiropractic treat carpal tunnel syndrome?
A: Yes. Repetitive stress on the wrists has become very common from activities such as typing. It is felt most noticeably in the hands and wrists, but the neck can often be involved as one of the sources of carpal tunnel syndrome. Chiropractic treatment offers an alternative to surgery that is generally very successful, both immediately and over time.

Q: Which insurance plans do you accept?
A: Grosvenor Chiropractic accepts major insurance plans, including Blue Cross. Feel free to call our office at (204) 284-2024 for a full list of accepted insurance providers.
